Distribution characteristics of the month-scale and week-scale numbers for small earthquakes around the epicenter prior to the April 14,2010 Yushu earthquake with MS7.1
The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is adopted to test the distribution of the month-sca1e number since 2000 and the week-sca1e number since 2007 by using the earthquakes of 1.7≤ML ≤2.9 occurring around the epicenter prior to the April 14,2010 Yushu,Qinghai Province earthquake with MS7. 1. The results show that the weekly number and the monthly number agree with neither the normal distribution nor the Possion distribution. And the relationship between the accumulative frequency of the weekly and monthly numbers and the weekly and monthly numbers resembles the Gutenberg-Richter law. Analyzing the temporal changes of the parameters, such as the standard deviation σ,CV value, skewness Sk,kurtosis Ku and bm value,of the weekly and monthly numbers,we find that these parameters changed obviously prior to the April 14,2010 Yushu,Qinghai Province earthquake of MS7.1,and the parameters for the weekly number seem to change in a periodic way.
