An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred in Luding County,Ganzi Prefecture,Sichuan Province on September 5,2022,causing serious casualties and collapse of buildings. The relevant station recorded a peak acceleration of horizontal ground motion of 891cm/s2 and a peak acceleration of vertical acceleration of 175cm/s2. In order to clearly understand the damage effect of the earthquake on the building structures, the general finite element software SAUSG 2022 was used to carry out the elastic-plastic dynamic time history analysis of a two-story reinforced concrete frame structure at the epicenter of the earthquake. The results show that under the action of the Luding earthquake, the building is seriously damaged and there is a risk of collapse. The damage location and damage degree of the structure obtained by the finite element analysis are basically consistent with the field conditions. However, the analysis results indicate that if the isolation technology was adopted, the damage degree to the building will be decreased.
