The traditional earthquake early warning method builds a regional earthquake early warning system by deploying a high-density seismic monitoring network in areas with frequent earthquakes. However, this method requires high cost and also involves close cooperation between the government and different industries. This factor makes most countries and regions located in earthquake-prone areas unable to support the construction and operation of earthquake early warning systems. With the development of Micro-Electro-Mechanical System(MEMS) technology and the popularization of smart phones,a new research direction of earthquake early warning technology has emerged, and the use of smart phones to carry out earthquake early warning has great potential for development. So far,a number of mobile phone APPs earthquake early warning software such as MyShake and i-jishin have been developed at home and abroad. This paper describes in detail the research progress of earthquake early warning using embedded MEMS chips on mobile phones, and systematically summarizes the steps and related algorithms involved in earthquake early warning on mobile phones.
