Abstract:At 15:44 Beijing time on December 4,2025,a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Aheqi County,Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture,Xinjiang(41.13°N,78.40°E). the China Earthquake Early Warning Network issued its first early warning results 7.9s after the earthquake and released the automatic rapid report 141s after the event. the China Earthquake Networks Center published the official rapid report 15min after the earthquake. Emergency response products were subsequently generated in collaboration with other institutes, including source parameters, seismotectonic background, historical seismicity, focal mechanism, rupture process, and estimated intensity. the results indicate that the earthquake occurred near the Maidan-Shayilamu Fault, where tectonic activity is strong. Focal mechanism inversion shows that the event was dominated by thrust faulting, consistent with the focal mechanism characteristics of most historical earthquakes in the region. Rupture process inversion reveals that the slip distribution was generally oriented in a near-NE direction, broadly consistent with the strike of faults in the epicentral area. the rapid intensity report indicates that the maximum intensity in the epicentral area reached VIII,with an affected area of approximately 98km2.
