This paper adopts the Load/Unload Response Ratio(LURR)method to investigate seven earthquakes with MS≥5.0 that have occurred in South China since 2015,and systematically analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of pre-earthquake LURR anomalies. The results reveal prominent high-value LURR anomalies in all temporal sequences before the earthquakes. These anomalies mostly emerge 4-15 months before the events,and the earthquakes generally occur within four months after the anomalies terminate. Spatially,the anomalies are concentrated around the epicenters and follow the evolutionary pattern of peripheral loading,migration toward the epicenter,and shrinkage of the anomalous area shortly before the earthquakes. As an important medium-to-short-term forecasting tool for earthquakes with MS≥5.0 in South China,the LURR method can support temporal prediction by referring to the four-month window after the decline of high LURR values in temporal scanning. Meanwhile,spatially concentrated anomalies and their migration trends derived from spatial scanning can provide evidence for determining potential epicentral locations.
