Abstract:The Load/Unload Response Ratio(LURR)can reflect the seismogenic process of crustal media and thereby assess the risk of earthquake occurrence. Using the LURR method, this paper conducts a retrospective verification of the MS5.5 Pingyuan earthquake in Shandong Province on August 6,2023,and analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of pre-earthquake seismicity. The study aims to provide a reference for exploring effective prediction methods for moderate-to-strong felt earthquakes in the Shandong region. The analysis shows that: (1)distinct high-value LURR anomalies in both time and space appeared in and around the epicentral area before the MS5.5 Pingyuan earthquake on August 6,2023.(2)The LURR method can capture certain short-to medium-term anomalies before moderate-to-strong earthquakes and provide a useful basis for assessing regional seismic trends.
